Jesus told a parable of two people who went to the temple to pray. One proudly told God how good he was and the other cried out for mercy. The parable teaches us important lessons about the awful sin of pride, the way to approach God in prayer and how humans can find favor with God.
There are three main characters in the parable of the prodigal son. Tonight we will consider the father who demonstrated such remarkable love for his wayward child. It is a story of hope, compassion and rejoicing.
Many people have suffered inordinately from the pandemic. Is there hope? We will examine the experience of Job who lost everything. His story of excruciating suffering which ended in hope gives us some help in confronting our own troubles.
In the parables, Jesus conveys spiritual truths recounting simple stories with a twist. The parable of the rich fool is about a rich farmer who has a bumper crop. He decides to store his surplus grain in bigger barns and then relax by eating, drinking and having fun. Just then God appears on the scene and informs him that he is about to die. The story speaks of the deceitfulness of riches and the pitfalls of greed and selfishness. Join us to learn from Jesus, the master teacher.
